Ezekiel 13:20 meaning and explanation

Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: See, I am against the magic charms with which you ensnare souls like birds, and I will tear them from your arms. So I will free the souls you have ensnared like birds.

Ezekiel 13:20, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God is speaking through Ezekiel to women in Jerusalem who prophesied from their own imagination and used magic charms and veils to control people (verses 17 to 19). The Hebrew word for the charms suggests something bound on the arm, and the image is of catching souls the way a fowler nets birds.
