Ezekiel 19:14 meaning and explanation
Fire has gone out from its main branch and devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a ruler’s scepter.’ This is a lament and shall be used as a lament.”
Ezekiel 19:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Ezekiel is told to sing a funeral song over the last kings of Judah, and verse 14 closes it with a vine destroyed by fire. The main branch is likely the reigning king, and the fire spreading from it to devour the fruit pictures how his own rebellion brought ruin on the dynasty and the people.
