Ezekiel 2:6 meaning and explanation

But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns surround you, and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their presence, though they are a rebellious house.

Ezekiel 2:6, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God speaks these words to Ezekiel, newly commissioned as a prophet to the exiles in Babylon. The people are a rebellious house, and the images of briers, thorns and scorpions picture the hostility and danger Ezekiel will face from those he is sent to address.
