Ezekiel 20:21 meaning and explanation

But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or carefully observe My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and vent My anger against them in the wilderness.

Ezekiel 20:21, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God is recounting Israel's history to the elders who came to inquire of Him. Having described the first wilderness generation's rebellion, He turns to their children, who repeated the same pattern: they rejected His statutes and ordinances and profaned His Sabbaths.
