On that day I swore to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands.
Ezekiel 20:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In Ezekiel 20, God is recounting Israel's history to the elders who came to inquire of Him, and He speaks of the day He chose Israel in Egypt. The oath here is God's own pledge, sworn with an uplifted hand, to bring His people out of slavery into a land He had "searched out" for them, meaning He had examined and chosen it with care.
