This is what the Lord GOD says: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. There will no longer be a prince in Egypt, and I will instill fear in that land.

Ezekiel is prophesying in Babylon, where he and the exiles have heard that Egypt, their hoped-for ally, will fall to Nebuchadnezzar. Here God speaks through the prophet against Memphis, the ancient capital and a center of Egyptian religion, promising to destroy its idols and images and to end its prince.
