Ezekiel 33:22 meaning and explanation

Now the evening before the fugitive arrived, the hand of the LORD was upon me, and He opened my mouth before the man came to me in the morning. So my mouth was opened and I was no longer mute.

Ezekiel 33:22, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Ezekiel had been struck mute as a sign to Israel, and his speech was to return only when Jerusalem's fall was confirmed (Ezekiel 3:26; 24:27). Here, on the evening before a fugitive arrives with that news, the hand of the LORD comes upon him and his mouth is opened.
