Ezekiel 8:4 meaning and explanation

And there I saw the glory of the God of Israel, like the vision I had seen in the plain.

Ezekiel 8:4, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Ezekiel is in exile in Babylon, and the Spirit has carried him in vision to the temple in Jerusalem. At the north gate of the inner court, beside the idol that provokes God's jealousy, he sees the glory of the God of Israel, the same glory he beheld earlier by the Kebar River in the plain (Ezekiel 1).
