Ezra 5:8 meaning and explanation
Let it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God. The people are rebuilding it with large stones, and placing timbers in the walls. This work is being carried out diligently and is prospering in their hands.

Explanation preview
These words come from the official letter that Tattenai, governor of the province west of the Euphrates, sent to King Darius of Persia, reporting on the temple rebuilding in Jerusalem. He describes the work fairly and without hostility: the Jews are using large stones and setting timbers into the walls, and the project is advancing steadily.
