Galatians 3:16 meaning and explanation
The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.
Galatians 3:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul writes to Gentile believers in Galatia who were being pressured to add law keeping to their faith. Arguing from Genesis, he notes that God's promises to Abraham were spoken to Abraham and to his seed, and that Scripture says "seed," not "seeds." Paul reads the whole promise as narrowing to one descendant, Christ, in whom the blessing reaches every nation.
