Galatians 6:5 meaning and explanation
For each one should carry his own load.
Galatians 6:5, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul is speaking to the Galatians near the end of his letter, and this line sits right after he told them to carry one another's burdens. The apparent tension is resolved by the two Greek words: verse 2 uses baros, a heavy weight, while verse 5 uses phortion, a load or cargo, the ordinary word for what a person must carry himself.
