Genesis 2:23 meaning and explanation
And the man said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of man she was taken.”
Genesis 2:23, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The man speaks these words in Eden after God forms the woman from his side and brings her to him. The Hebrew word for woman, ishshah, sounds like the word for man, ish, and the man's cry echoes the language of kinship used elsewhere in Scripture for close family.
