Genesis 24:54 meaning and explanation
Then he and the men with him ate and drank and spent the night there. When they got up the next morning, he said, “Send me on my way to my master.”
Genesis 24:54, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The servant has just finished recounting his mission and hearing Laban and Bethuel agree that Rebekah should marry Isaac. The meal that follows is the customary seal of a negotiated agreement in the ancient Near East, and the servant's early rising shows his single-mindedness: he has sworn an oath to Abraham and will not linger once the matter is settled.
