Genesis 35:6 meaning and explanation
So Jacob and everyone with him arrived in Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.
Genesis 35:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jacob is travelling back through Canaan after years in Paddan-aram, and God has just told him to settle at Bethel and build an altar there (verse 1). Luz was the older Canaanite name of the place; Jacob had first met God here while fleeing Esau, and he had renamed it Bethel, meaning house of God.
