Genesis 4:14 meaning and explanation
Behold, this day You have driven me from the face of the earth, and from Your face I will be hidden; I will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
Genesis 4:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Cain speaks these words to the LORD after the murder of Abel and after hearing the sentence pronounced on him. He has been driven from the ground that received his brother's blood, and he understands the sentence as double: exclusion from the land and exclusion from God's face, meaning the LORD's favorable presence.
