Genesis 40:19 meaning and explanation
Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and hang you on a tree. Then the birds will eat the flesh of your body.”
Genesis 40:19, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Joseph, a prisoner in Egypt, speaks these words to Pharaoh's chief baker, who has just described his dream of three baskets of bread. The phrase about lifting the head is a grim wordplay: the same expression meant restoration for the cupbearer in verse 13, but here it means execution.
