Genesis 44:8 meaning and explanation
We even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found in the mouths of our sacks. Why would we steal silver or gold from your master’s house?
Genesis 44:8, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The brothers are answering Joseph's steward, who has just accused them of stealing the silver cup. Their defense rests on their own track record: on the first trip they found their money in their sacks and brought it back from Canaan on their own initiative.
