Genesis 6:15 meaning and explanation

And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.

Genesis 6:15, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God is speaking to Noah, giving exact dimensions for the ark that will carry his family and the animals through the flood. A cubit was roughly the length from elbow to fingertip, about eighteen inches, so the ark was around 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high, a ratio of length to width and height that makes a stable, seaworthy vessel.
