Genesis 9:2 meaning and explanation
The fear and dread of you will fall on every living creature on the earth, every bird of the air, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are delivered into your hand.
Genesis 9:2, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God is speaking to Noah and his sons just after the flood, renewing the commission given at creation: humanity is to fill the earth and care for its creatures. The Hebrew words for fear and dread describe the animals' instinctive wariness of people, and delivered into your hand means they are placed under human authority.
