Habakkuk 3:10 meaning and explanation

The mountains saw You and quaked; torrents of water swept by. The deep roared with its voice and lifted its hands on high.

Habakkuk 3:10, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Habakkuk is praying, recalling God's dramatic deliverance of Israel in the Exodus and asking God to act again in his own day. In verse 10 the creation itself responds to God's arrival: the mountains quake, torrents sweep past, and the deep, the primeval waters, roars and lifts its hands on high.
