Hebrews 4:15 meaning and explanation
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.
Hebrews 4:15, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The writer is addressing Jewish believers tempted to drift back from faith, and he has just named Jesus as the great high priest who has passed through the heavens. The word for sympathize, Greek sympathesai, means to feel with someone, not merely to pity from a distance.
