Hosea 4:15 meaning and explanation
Though you prostitute yourself, O Israel, may Judah avoid such guilt! Do not journey to Gilgal, do not go up to Beth-aven, and do not swear on oath, ‘As surely as the LORD lives!’
Hosea 4:15, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In Hosea 4 the LORD brings a covenant lawsuit against Israel through the prophet Hosea, charging the nation with broken faithfulness, and verse 15 turns briefly toward the southern kingdom of Judah. Israel's worship has become spiritual prostitution, so Judah is warned not to share that guilt by making pilgrimages to Gilgal and Beth-aven, shrines where false worship had taken root.
