Hosea 8:6 meaning and explanation
For this thing is from Israel— a craftsman made it, and it is not God. It will be broken to pieces, that calf of Samaria.
Hosea 8:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD is speaking through Hosea about the golden calf of Samaria, the idol set up in the northern kingdom. Verse 6 presses the absurdity: the thing is "from Israel," made by a craftsman's hands, and therefore "not God." Whatever devotion it receives, it cannot answer, save or judge.
