Isaiah 1:15 meaning and explanation
When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you multiply your prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.
Isaiah 1:15, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God is speaking through Isaiah to the people of Judah, who keep bringing sacrifices and prayers while their society is full of violence and injustice. Spreading out the hands was a normal posture of prayer, but God says the gesture is empty because those hands are covered with blood, likely the guilt of murder and oppression named in verses 21 and 23.
