Isaiah 10:4 meaning and explanation

Nothing will remain but to crouch among the captives or fall among the slain. Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.

Isaiah 10:4, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Isaiah has just pronounced woe on Judah's leaders who enact unjust statutes and strip the poor, widows and orphans of their rights (verses 1 and 2). Verse 4 closes that oracle with the outcome: when devastation comes from afar, the only place left for them is crouching among captives or falling among the slain.
