Isaiah 13:3 meaning and explanation

I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have even summoned My warriors to execute My wrath and exult in My triumph.

Isaiah 13:3, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God speaks here through Isaiah, announcing judgment on Babylon, the great empire of the prophet's day. The "sanctified ones" are not Israel's priests but the armies God has set apart and summoned for his purpose, most likely the Medes named later in the chapter.
