Isaiah 19:16 meaning and explanation
In that day the Egyptians will be like women. They will tremble with fear beneath the uplifted hand of the LORD of Hosts, when He brandishes it against them.
Isaiah 19:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah speaks as the LORD's prophet against Egypt, and "in that day" points to the moment when the judgments announced earlier in the chapter fall. The image of Egyptians becoming "like women" uses an ancient idiom for courage draining away; it describes panic, not the worth of women.
