Isaiah 24:6 meaning and explanation

Therefore a curse has consumed the earth, and its inhabitants must bear the guilt; the earth’s dwellers have been burned, and only a few survive.

Isaiah 24:6, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Isaiah 24 pictures the whole earth under judgment, not just one nation. The prophet speaks as God's spokesman, and the previous verse names the cause: people have broken the everlasting covenant, defiled the land, and overstepped God's decrees.
