Isaiah 28:11 meaning and explanation

Indeed, with mocking lips and foreign tongues, He will speak to this people

Isaiah 28:11, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Isaiah is addressing the leaders and people of Jerusalem who have mocked his repeated warnings, which they hear as childish babble (verses 9 and 10). Because they refuse the plain message of rest, God says He will speak to them through a foreign power, most likely Assyria, whose unfamiliar language they will not be able to dismiss.
