Isaiah 3:24 meaning and explanation
Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of styled hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame.
Isaiah 3:24, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah has just listed the ornaments of Jerusalem's wealthy women (verses 18 to 23), and verse 24 reverses each one. The Hebrew word for fragrance is bosem, the same word used for the spices of the tabernacle, so the women's luxury perfumes are replaced by a stench.
