Isaiah 30:9 meaning and explanation
These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to obey the LORD’s instruction.
Isaiah 30:9, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In context, the LORD is speaking through Isaiah about Judah near the end of the eighth century BC, as the people look to Egypt for protection against Assyria instead of trusting God. Verses 8 to 11 describe a written record meant as a lasting witness: the people are called rebellious and deceitful because they refuse the LORD's instruction, the Hebrew torah, meaning teaching or direction.
