Isaiah 34:6 meaning and explanation
The sword of the LORD is bathed in blood. It drips with fat— with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
Isaiah 34:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah 34 is a prophetic oracle of judgment, and in verse 6 the LORD speaks through the prophet of His sword, pictured as a weapon bathed in blood and dripping with fat. The imagery borrows from sacrificial ritual: lambs, goats and rams were offered at the altar, and the fat was the portion burned to God.
