Isaiah 48:19 meaning and explanation
Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and your offspring as numerous as its grains; their name would never be cut off or eliminated from My presence.”
Isaiah 48:19, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In context, God is speaking through Isaiah to the exiles in Babylon, a people who bear Israel's name but have been stubborn and rebellious since birth (verses 4 and 8). Verse 19 completes a conditional sentence begun in verse 18: if they had listened to God's commands, their peace would have flowed like a river and their descendants would have been countless as sand.
