Isaiah 52:6 meaning and explanation

Therefore My people will know My name; therefore they will know on that day that I am He who speaks. Here I am!”

Isaiah 52:6, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

In Isaiah 52 the LORD speaks through the prophet to a people humiliated by foreign rulers, first Egypt and then Assyria, and now taunted so that his name is blasphemed continually. Verse 6 answers that disgrace with a promise: the people will come to know his name, not as a distant tradition but as the character of the God who acts on their behalf.
