Isaiah 6:5 meaning and explanation
Then I said: “Woe is me, for I am ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips dwelling among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Hosts.”
Isaiah 6:5, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah has just seen the Lord enthroned in the temple, with seraphim crying "Holy, holy, holy." His first response is not mission but collapse. The Hebrew word rendered "ruined" can mean cut off or silenced, and Isaiah expects to die, since seeing the holy King was thought to end a person's life.
