Isaiah 8:3, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Isaiah has just been told to write the name Maher-shalal-hash-baz on a scroll before witnesses, and now the name is given to his own newborn son. The Hebrew name means something like "quick to the plunder, swift to the spoil," and verse 4 explains it: before the child can say "Father" or "Mother," Assyria will carry off Damascus and Samaria.
