James 4:7 meaning and explanation
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
James has just quoted the proverb that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble, and he writes to scattered believers whose quarrels and worldly friendships have set them against God. The command to submit therefore flows from grace: humility means placing oneself under God's authority.
