Jeremiah 10:22 meaning and explanation
Listen! The sound of a report is coming— a great commotion from the land to the north. The cities of Judah will be made a desolation, a haunt for jackals.
Jeremiah 10:22, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah speaks as the Babylonians approach, and verse 22 announces the report of an army coming from the north, the direction from which invasion reached Judah. The Hebrew word for the coming desolation pictures cities so empty that jackals, wild scavengers of ruins, make their home there.
