Jeremiah 13:1 meaning and explanation
This is what the LORD said to me: “Go and buy yourself a linen loincloth and put it around your waist, but do not let it touch water.”
Jeremiah 13:1, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah 13 opens with the LORD speaking directly to the prophet, commanding him to buy a linen loincloth and wear it at his waist without letting it touch water. A linen undergarment was ordinary clothing worn close to the body, and the Hebrew word here is related to the idea of girding or binding.
