Jeremiah 13:27 meaning and explanation
Your adulteries and lustful neighings, your shameless prostitution on the hills and in the fields— I have seen your detestable acts. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will you remain unclean?”
Jeremiah 13:27, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The LORD speaks through Jeremiah to Jerusalem near the end of the kingdom of Judah, likely during the reign of Jehoiakim. The verse closes a chapter of acted parables and warnings, and it names the city's sin in the language of adultery: the people had gone after other gods at shrines on hills and in fields, and the prophets often pictured covenant unfaithfulness as marital betrayal.
