Jeremiah 22:23 meaning and explanation
O inhabitant of Lebanon, nestled in the cedars, how you will groan when pangs of anguish come upon you, agony like a woman in labor.”
Jeremiah 22:23, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah is speaking to the royal house of Judah, and "inhabitant of Lebanon, nestled in the cedars" is a figure for the king and his court, whose palace was paneled with cedar and who felt as secure as a nest high in the mountains. The LORD has just warned that the wind will drive away the shepherds, the leaders who should have cared for the people.
