Jeremiah 23:32 meaning and explanation
“Indeed,” declares the LORD, “I am against those who prophesy false dreams and retell them to lead My people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent them or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people,” declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:32, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah 23 is a series of accusations against Judah's leaders, prophets and priests, spoken by the LORD through the prophet in the years before Jerusalem fell to Babylon. Here God names a specific offence: prophets claim divine dreams and pass them on, using them to lead the people astray with reckless lies (the Hebrew sheqer, falsehood).
