Jeremiah is imprisoned in the courtyard of the guard while Babylon besieges Jerusalem, and he has just bought his cousin's field at Anathoth as a sign of hope. In verse 13 he gives the sealed and open copies of the deed to Baruch, his scribe, publicly, before his cousin and the witnesses.
