Explanation preview
Jeremiah 32 is set during the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem, with the prophet imprisoned for announcing the city's fall. God answers his prayer with a promise beyond the disaster: an everlasting covenant (berit olam) in which God binds himself never to stop doing good to his people, and puts his fear in their hearts so they will not turn away.
