Jeremiah 34:20 is spoken by the LORD through the prophet during the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem. Zedekiah and the people had solemnly covenanted to free their Hebrew slaves, then reversed their decision and re-enslaved them, so God announces judgment on those who broke that covenant.
