Jeremiah 34:5 meaning and explanation
you will die in peace. As spices were burned for your fathers, the former kings who preceded you, so people will burn spices for you and lament, ‘Alas, O master!’ For I Myself have spoken this word, declares the LORD.”
Jeremiah 34:5, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah speaks to King Zedekiah of Judah while Babylon's army besieges Jerusalem. Verse 3 has just told him he will be captured and taken to Babylon, so verse 5 sounds a surprising note of mercy: he will not be killed in battle but will die in peace, in Babylon.
