Jeremiah 37:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Zedekiah, installed as king of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar, had refused to obey the words the LORD spoke through Jeremiah, yet here he sends two officials, Jehucal and the priest Zephaniah, to ask the prophet for prayer. The request comes while the Babylonians are besieging Jerusalem and Pharaoh's army has marched out of Egypt, so the king wants a divine word of rescue rather than repentance.
