Jeremiah 38:3 meaning and explanation
This is what the LORD says: This city will surely be delivered into the hands of the army of the king of Babylon, and he will capture it.”
Jeremiah 38:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah is speaking to the people of Jerusalem during the Babylonian siege, and verse 3 is the second half of his oracle: the city will certainly fall to Babylon's army. The Hebrew doubles the verb for emphasis, so the BSB renders it "surely be delivered." The word for "delivered" is nathan, meaning to give over or hand up.
