Johanan and the army commanders had just heard Jeremiah deliver God's word forbidding the move to Egypt. Rather than obey, they accuse the prophet of lying and force the entire remnant, men, women, children, the king's daughters, Jeremiah and Baruch, to journey to Tahpanhes.
