Jeremiah 44:22 meaning and explanation
So the LORD could no longer endure the evil deeds and detestable acts you committed, and your land became a desolation, a horror, and an object of cursing, without inhabitant, as it is this day.
Jeremiah 44:22, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah is speaking in Egypt to the Judean refugees who fled there after Jerusalem fell, and in verse 22 he answers their claim that abandoning the Queen of Heaven brought them ruin. He insists the opposite is true: the LORD had long endured Judah's incense and idolatry, but their evil deeds and detestable acts reached a point where He could bear it no longer.
